Hey all, I've been lurking for a few weeks here and thought I'd finally join. I've only been supping for about a month. I moved to Florida and the sailing club I belong to has sup boards that you can paddle around on. Well after a week or two I wanted my own so I found a used surftech 11' 6" on craigslist. Today I actually went sailing because it was nice and windy then decided to sup when I got in as I figured the wind and the chop would make for a good quick workout. I paddled over to a friends sailboat for a quick chat and I was paddling in a dolphin jumped clear out of the water not ten feet in front of me. I turned the board around to follow in the direction I thought he went. Next to the boats anchor line I saw a big dark shadow. I figured it was the dolphin so I paddled towards it. Then the shadow started coming towards me. I figure it's a dolphin it's cool. But then I worry about falling on it and become the first person to be bitten by a dolphin. Well the shadow reaches me and I can see it underwater and it's a manatee! A dolphin and a manatee within ten seconds of each other! Pretty cool, thats how I got into sup. I like being able to see wildlife better than in a kayak or a catamaran. Just thought I'd say hi, and share this little story.
If all you ever do is all you've ever done, then all you'll ever get is all you ever got.
