What do you pack with you?

Going to start doing more rivers that are out a bit outside of the city and deep in the woods. If the water is shallow I'll keep my PDF on the front of the board. In my pack I have a dry back with some food and stuff in there (I use this pack for my day hikes also). Besides water, a good knife and the like, what else should I toss in there? Looking at doing 8 miles or so of river.

There are rivers here where the fish and wildlife people will check the tubers to make sure they're not drinking-n-tubing. Tubing w/o beer is like fishing sober.

I'd rather they ban smoking while tubing.  NC has some funny priorities.  Fish and wildlife law enforcement hiding behind a bush to bust someone for drinking beer while tubing while your car is being broken into at the putin.

Beer x2!!! Just bring a rod and they park rangers will think you are just fishing, plus you are not in a tube so doubt they will hassle you at all.

1st Aid Kit, Lifesaver Bottle, spare clothing.. Double bagged if it's gonna be bumpy
