Compression Shirts/Sleeves for Body/Joint Support?

I'm obviously new around the zone, so my apologies if this has been previously discussed. I searched the archives and didn't find anything on point.  The "never stop going" thread got me thinking about taking care of myself.

That said, I've got a question for the cold water zoners.  I've only been in a wetsuit a handfull of times, but it seems to me that the tightness of the suit supports my body in the standing position.

Thoughts on supporting legs/back/joints by wearing compression shirts/sleeves?

I'm in equatorial water and usually wear jerseys for UV protection.  Not a big fan of wearing rash guards.  I'm also increasingly sensitive to protecting my skin from the sun.

Here's a few I've been looking at:

I am a runner, and the best deals on compression stuff is Walmart, Starter brand.
Good products and they last. short and long shirts.

I am using a few Virus products I am happy with. I have the aqua top though in black as you linked. Also last years white top which basically has the stiching in a different place on the arms. I like the prior version (AU2) as the new stitching/seams chafe the arm where it bends and flexes most. The new version doesn't have a seam under the arm but that never bothered me. Either way I do use both and for a long distance races they work great for sun protection and my arms feel good after 10+ miles. I have not used the version with the compression bands in the back as never felt the need. Get the white for paddling and black for cold days or wearing for compression after. It does warm up in the sun.

I also like the boot cut compression pants for cold weather paddling and great for a base layer under motocross pants and knee pads (no I do not wear this stuff paddling but riding a dirt bike). But appears they now ONLY have the warmer version which for me doesn't work well as a base layer in CA temps. Paddling I don't need much... Just enough for compression, cut the wind but breathe.  The bio ceramic compression pants are awesome. Fit is good according to the fit chart. I was a little put off by 2XU that had me buyng size small that I had to shoe horn myself into. I will be getting another white top soon as it's my most used paddling jersey.

Wow, what will they think of next.  Those Pearl Izumi 'sun sleeves' have been sold to cyclists as "arm warmers" for many many years.. ::).  If you are paddling in warm sunny weather, I would definitely recommend the white color rather than black...

Xcel Wetsuits makes paddle shirts.  They have UV protection, the body of the shirt is comfortable, but the sleeves are tapered.  Does not have the compression.  But, since you don't like rash guards, I'm adding this to your list to consider.  Picture is only one of the color/styles.http://www.xcelwetsuits.com
