Looks like by tomorrow we'll have some nice swells building.

Of course, I'd arranged to go out today! Oh well, maybe I can get out after work tomorrow.

It's simple, either you get the wave or the wave gets you.

i was hoping that south would come more our way but lake m will be better then hurong. however, starting late saturday there is a real nice north blow coming in. has the potential to give us real good clean surf sunday monday tuesday. but longterm tuesday says like 40 mile winds which will be blown out. clean up could be epic tho. get some!

Fark

Looks like about 8 footers around me.

gr8laker

endless, got my sights set on the coming north swell too  ;D

Looks like Sheboygan has a few surfers out, one SUPer.

Camera scrolls on its own apparently. Keep watching and you'll see the swell.

For you lucky salty surfers, notice the short period? Non-friggin-stop on the lake I'm afraid.

Couple screen shots of some SUSers catching and paddling. Looks like fun, but I'm stuck at work!

Crazy sheet coming our way! Much too north for our liking.

Monday
North gales to 35 knots increasing to 40 knots. Rain. Waves 14 to 18 feet.

Monday Night
North gales to 45 knots increasing to storm force winds to 50 knots overnight. Rain. Waves 16 to 20 feet.

Tuesday
Northeast gales to 45 knots diminishing to 40 knots. Rain. Waves 15 to 20 feet subsiding to 13 to 17 feet.

See Lake Erie Open Lakes forecast for Wednesday through Friday. The water temperature off Toledo is 52 degrees...off Cleveland 57 degrees and off Erie 57 degrees.

Yeah, it's going to be friggin MASSIVE and equally messy. I'll take some pictures from the shoreline thank you. But, there's one place that's protected, might have potential, we'll see.

Take a look, forecast for tomorrow, wow, 19'+ on the south tip of the lake. Pretty likely they'll close Lakeshore drive, as the waves will be crashing over it.

Well, it would be one helluva fast downwinder!
Would anyone actually consider going out in something like this? I can't imagine it's survivable, let alone rideable.

Here's the wind map for tomorrow, yikes.

Can you say.... Downwinder??? :o

That's my plans for Tuesday & Wednesday.

Everyone around here is talking about going out in the 40+ knot winds. My experience, it'll be way too blown out unless found a structure to cleanup things up.

For me, I'd skip the blow out and wait for Thursday or Friday (or could be Saturday) for the wind die out. The water will be super active from the movement + the cleanup should be unreal. But timing it is the key.

I agree Gringo, it's going to be a friggin mess, waaaaaay to windy to surf, at least for my tastes. If I'm going to the trouble of surfing when it's cold, it has to be decent to be worth it.

Timing will be key, always is around here and I seem to miss it too often.

Yeah surfin would be out but not DWnding.  We've done over 40mph here on Maui and it's pretty great.  We've done over 50... once and that was a tad scary.  Huge water.  But for you guys with that cold weather it's probably marginal safety to be out in that kind of storm with the wind chill.  With this storm, if you get over 40, you might also get over 60 and that's probably where the red line is.   Also no vis is kind of a scary issue.  But it's fun to fantasize I guess.

Fark

local surf shop here is giving 10% off all leashes to help with the safety issue.  No need to chance it, get a new one.  I don't know how long I'm going to stay out of the water for this one.  Wife says until it's over. ;D
