Anyone with experience on extra-wide 9-10 ft SUPs?

I'm a fat 48 yr old who grew up surfing short boards. I get to surf once a month these days usually in smaller surf and cold water . I have an 11' surf tec 29" wide and a 34" wide whopper. I rip on the whopper! When I get tired and cold my balance goes first. I can stay out for hours on the whopper. On my 29" board I look like a kook, always falling in after an hour. I say go wide and have fun!

Anyone here ever ride the Whopper Extra?  The thing looks like a beast.  36" wide.

Thanx everyone for all input here so far, I'm looking to step up a notch and trade in my 11' Laird.  Got some really useful info here.
