Tom - let me know when you're coming up my way.  I'd love for you to check it out.

The board Steamroller is getting the air on is an ULI GLX-2 with a modified design we're testing.  That board rips!  I really love the 8'4" in smaller surf - it catches waves pretty good and because it's the shortest of the ULIs it flexes even less.  I've ridden it waves slightly overhead and goes great.  For bigger stuff I think I like the GLX-2 a little better, that's just a personal observation.

alap - I like the pics and video of you on the FAQ.  Looks like you're having a great time.

have i said that I am in no rush to move on from FAQ 9'3' to this new 8'4"??

after seeing this picture and your comments CBB, I want to take this statement back :)

Ok - now the boards broke cover - I hooked up with Jim and Team ULI in Costa Rica in January.

All I'm going to say is it paddles fine, in fact it's better than fine - we paddled a good mile and a bit to an offshore reef - no problem.  I managed to stay with a 9'3 FAQ and a 9' hard board - I don't now if the others were going for it or not but it was not a struggle.

It's stable as - I'm 200lbs and it's fine for me - no bother.

It surfs - like it really surfs.

We are all in for a treat - brace yourselves!

355, what board a u talking, 9'3" or 8'4" ?

Hi Alap - I bought my 9'3 FAQ over a year ago now - the board that I got to try in Costa Rica was SIGNIFICANTLY shorter -  my point was that for a small board it paddles as easily  as the 9'3 and covers distance well.

Couple that with it's surf agility and it looks like the ULI team have pumped  the magic dial up another notch.

If what I used turns out to be the final production version it's going to be a great piece of kit.

I think Steamroller's new video let on to Uli's new surfing secret...
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

What's the ETA on the 8'x"?

uli have updated the website a bit but no new models yet

the lightweight lopez gl-x1 is no longer shown - will they still make it ?

for flying the x2 at 26lbs is too heavy - the 9-3 FAQ is the same
