Anybody try a starboard with the small side fins mounted out towards the rails haif way up the board?  Wondering how well they get you up wind and especially what they are like to sail back down wind with?  And what models they are available on?

2+1 setup won't help upwind performance as it increases drag and lowers speed (VMG) This setup DOES improve wave performance.

To increase upwind performance you need a bigger (more vertical) fin

Not a tri fin set up.  Starboard is putting fin boxes half way up the board on each side.  It looks like they are doing this instead of the screw on dagger board. I guess people haven't been able to try them yet.

They did that with the Starboard GO about 110 years ago ....to help learners with windsurfing.  Not sure it made a difference.  I have one for the kids to knock around on
Too many for the rack
Some in the shack
Some under decks
Some have straps

thanks, I thought I had seen them on a GO before.

On the GO's they were mounted on the rails with footstrap inserts and were not designed for planning. Each year the hole pattern was different making each years side fins obsolete.

There were some serious warranty issues with this feature
