We put men on the moon, but still don't have a reasonable way to switch back and forth between paddling and sailing during crossings, upwind slogs or distance work. What'sup with that?

Anybody tried rigging a kite or windsurf kit while on the water?

I am not a kiter but have bought a little trainer to mess around with.  My idea is to kite and end up downwind.  Then I will pull my 3pc werner out and paddle back.  Bungees on the board to hold it all down.  My Starboard cruiser has inserts.

There's a company here in Hood River that makes a sail for SUP boards, but it's just for downwind. I don't need a sail for downwind.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

I just started learning how to windsurf and this is one of the things on my list to figure out.

My local spots offer plenty of beach access to take a break to switch.   I was thinking if either slinging the paddle/sail bag across my back with a sling or attach to the board from the leash plug to the nose with a couple of tie downs.

It should be a fun way to sail upwind and enjoy the ride back paddling and catching little waves.

Not ENTIRELY irrelevant...

Nice pic.  The weight if the whole thing looks almost 50lbs.

Cool idea though.

I think I'll just make friends with people that live upwind and drop the sail there while I paddle back

JimK - SUP sailing is fun, but can you launch it from the SUP? Not just a relaunch, but unpack the thing while on the SUP, launch it, sail with it, retrieve it, pack it up and paddle on?
