A video from a few years ago I just came across where I was trying to teach a few friends to river wave surf... with mixed results

What type of boards are those?  What volume do you typically use for the river wave SUP?

smaller the better - short and thin... some width is nice on mushy waves, but not too much...

I was on a 6'11" x 27" x 4"

i ve been suring with the c4 rapid rider.  Glenwood wave as well as big sur down in junction.
Loving that board.  WOuld love to get something smaller in glass.  Your boards seem to fit that model.  You making it back to the springs at all, so we can demo some boards?

your certainly have a beautifull style, and its a pleasure to watch your turns, corran!

however, in terms of teaching, there is not so much to it. the girl seems like real newby, having trouble to stand up on the flat water, yet she is catching it in kneeling position quite easily. Is it really easy to catch it? I guess the major fear is moving backwards towards the wave? like in ocean the waves comes to you from behind, here you come backwards to the wave...

and after the fall, the beating is unavoidable?

I actually didn't shoot this video, and just saw it the other day - don't even know who did shoot it. So I wasn't teaching for effect on video lol

She's actually a very good surfer, but that was her first time on stand up - and a very very small stand up too... so she was kneeling to get on the wave... she did eventually catch it and surf the wave, but the video doesn't show it.

Here is another river surf video with SUP for you on a much bigger board and smaller wave

Yet another awesome facet of sup. I'm so stoked to try and find a spot like that around where I live. Thanks so much Corran!!!
