I'm grateful for all the info. here.  I have been taught by different people different ways to end the stroke. ???  Now I realize that they were trying to teach me two different styles.  I was trying to mix both, because no one told me what style etc.  From all the great info. now I can practice both.

Probably one of the most helpful threads on this forum, thanks for all who have contributed. Ive been reading everything Dave Kalama writes, would love one day to paddle with the guy, (if i could keep up) what a opportunity to learn.

Dave Kalama is giving a clinic in Canada later this month and another in Seattle (thanks to Greatdane for getting that going, and to Easy Rider for organizing the one in Canada, which is the reason he'll be in Seattle).  I'm sure there will be plenty of posts from people who attend those clinics telling what they've learned.  Plus, there'll be feedback from everyone from very experienced paddlers to novices--should be interesting.
