Stand Up Pedal Board
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:46:23 PM »
Check this out.
You can catch waves, cruise, race,
what else? Hey Tim what would be the
Coast Guard Designation for this thing?
Any thoughts?

I think that would fall under the general WTF category. I have to confess, I have two Hobie Adventure Islands with Mirage Drives, I've been thinking of getting Mark Raaphorst to make a well in one of my boards so I could try it. Low kayak-style seat, back and forth pedaling, it would be VERY fast. Very.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Hey -  as long as it doesn't have a paddle than all the crawlers should have no problem with it right? ;)

Is it possible to make that thing turn efficiently without a paddle? Doesn't look that easy...

Beyond classic... how cool would that be on a channel crossing... in the right conditions... I can just see it... I would go with SRAM Red, probably Speedplay pedals for tight cornering... and maybe a full aerobar for the occasional headwind... might be kind of a tough paddle out...

That would be a tough "pedal" out, not paddle ;)

The Short Board version would be the BMX Stand Up Pedal Board.
Aerials off the ramp! Hard Banked Turns. Nose dig spins. You
could reverse pedal for a stall... Hmmmmmmmmm I'm thinking too much...

Will grouchy SUP surfers be giving pedal surfers the stink eye?  Can we get nifty anti pedal-surf signs and bumper stickers?  Can we talk about how pedal-surfing has no soul, and accuse them of being floating death machines?

Just want to clarify so I can feel superior to um someone.
