Sorry, but that pic does not qualify as being "barrelled".  No disrespect to you or Bobby.

This is a pic of Ikaika Kalama getting properly shacked!

I'd call it barreled, shacked, in the green room, and tubed if it happened to me.

Lat year I told folks I was shacked at Kanaha (home of the mushburger). I'm sure all the regulars thought I was nutz, but I had a lip pitch out over the board at waist level, and I stayed on long enough to duck down into it. Sort of like entering the green room by the back door. I was pretty happy about it. Still am.

I figure any SUSers on the Washington coast will need to checkout this resurrected old post, so here goes . . .

I've been in Olympia, WA on business for a couple of days, and will need to be here again on Monday.  Therefore, rather than returning home to Maryland, I'll be on the west coast for the weekend.  I had originally planned to burn some frequent flyer miles and hop down to SoCal for a day and a half of surf, but it doesn't appear there's much happening there wave-wise for the next couple of days.

However, 70 miles away on the Washington coast, the wave forecast looks pretty darn good.  I've got a 2 mil wetsuit with me, but of course no board or paddle.  Does anyone have any suggestions on finding a reasonably high-performance SUP for rent or demo in the area?  "Demo" as in demonstrate, not demolition.  Promise.

I'm 6'02" @ 190, and would expect to be comfortable on anything 28 inches or more wide, with 110 liters or more of volume.  Given a choice, I'd go with a shortboard or mini-Simmons shape, but I'd also jump at the chance to come up with a good high performance longboard shape SUP.   I brought straps with me for board transport on the rental car, so the board doesn't have to be in any particular location.

I could drive anywhere from Seattle to Portland tomorrow morning for waves, and would welcome any suggestions!

Thanks,
Glenn

It's a fair distance from Olympia, but Urban Surf in Seattle has SUP rentals. I don't think they have anything I'd call performance surf stuff, but reasonable.

PonoBill, thanks for the tip.  If nothing more promising pops up, I'll head up to Seattle and check out Urban Surf.

Regards,
Glenn

2 mill wetsuit on the Washington coast?

I thought that was more like 4/5 even in summer.
