finally catching wave while standing....Yay!
« on: October 31, 2010, 04:12:50 PM »
I'm having the best time on my sup now.  I finally started going regularly and it's gotten alot easier.  I stopped trying to catch waves on my knees and just stood up and ley myself fall for awhile until I got it.  Too much fun!

Where did you go today?  It was glassy everywhere with small waves perfect for learning.  The SUPs even took over Topanga today.

I was at malibu 1st point.  Was there two days ago and it was perfect.  Today the tide was a bit too low and I hit some rocks a few times and landed on them as well but still had fun.

Glad you're having a blast, and progressing.  You'll be rippin' in no time!
Yeah, today (Sun) was nice and glassy, knee-waist high here in the South Bay.  I caught a few waves at Torrance Beach after a a few miles paddle on my Bark  Expedition.

Hey, Roland----are there any sup'ers at Sunset Pt (south of Malibu)?   I've longboarded there a few years ago, but wondering how receptive they are to Sups.

Yes, Sunset is very popular.  Due to the tide and small sets, the SUP guys/gals had Topanga to themselves.  When I drove by, there was probably 4 sups at Sunset, 5 or more at Topanga, at least 3 at Malibu, and around 10 at Paradise Cove.   I stayed dry, but plan on hitting it hard this week.  You might see some good sized waves at the Cove on Wednesday.

Paradise Cove? Since when are there surfable waves at Paradise Cove? Or is it flat water paddling only.

Congrats, Adidas!  Hopefully, I'll be making this kind of post in the near future.  I love the flat water, however, I can't wait to get a wave "under my feet", so to speak.

Just flat water.   You can get to Paradise Cove by turning at the Paradise Cove sign off PCH.  There's a pay parking lot at the restaurant.

Possibly, but there were a bunch going up and down the shoreline.  You could park at Zuma and just paddle around the corner.

Congrats Adida. I will be excited when I can catch a wave on my knees let alone on my feet. If I can learn to surf waves my goal will be to surf a wake following my sister's boat.
