 Not sure whats on right now but the simulcast has some type of home grown Mexican wrestling going on...interesting costumes!!  Scroll through the website though and there are some good highlight pics of the contest and of guys riding some heavy waves!  Tim

Apparently there were issues with the Airlines so
quite a few competitors couldn't get there.
Only 5 competitors.

Talked to Sean last weekend.

He was the only one not wearing a flotation jacket.
Some heavy hold downs.

They paddled out from the Harbor then across to the Surf,
About 15 minutes, No Leashes. So the 3 hour heats were necessary
as you would have to cycle to the harbor after losing your board.
the flotation jackets actually helped to push the guys in faster.
Real confidence tester.

it was problem with the airlines for sure .it was difficult to get there with their boards.angel salinas owns the central surf shop there and is a good friend.he held the first ever sup contest in puerto in 08,won by noah shimabukura.alot of the big guns where ther including chuck patterson,scott chandler,duane desoto just to name a few.it really is a challenge to surf puerto in those conditions.hopefully next year he will be able to get it going again on a bigger scale.standup journal did a nice feature on angel this. issue check it out.if you ever get down ther contact him ,he is a great guy
