Jeremy Riggs - Naish Race
« on: July 22, 2010, 08:47:32 AM »
A short post to correct a perceived results error and to recognize a truly amazing abilty.  The results that I had posted earlier show Jeremy in 6th place for the Naish race, but that was order of finish.  The 14 footers had started 3 minutes behind the Unlimited class in a second group.  So Jeremy had actually made up that time and passed through the whole unlimited pack to finish 6th in order of finish, but in actuality his time beat all but 3 paddlers (who were all on 17+ foot rudder boards) to give him a 4th place overall.

He did that on a 14 foot rudderless board in way less than optimal conditions.   I did a few run with Jeremy last month where he had bursted in sections that the rest of us thought were crap water and bad wind.  I asked him about that and he said that recently he thought he had learned some new connections.  He obviously did.

14 foot rudderless may not be viewed as the top fuel category for downwinding right now, but all the same, it is unreal to see anyone become so accomplished at any aspect of any sport.

I hope to get together with Jeremy on a great wind day and get some video of him on his 14 footer doing his thing.  It is pretty stunning.

I'm surprised Jeremy hasn't been snatched up for sponsorship by some outfit wanting to win. For a guy with a young family and a 9 to 5 job he is simply amazing.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Most likely. I'm pretty sure I also seen him carrying a Naish in a posted picture. Maybe the Maui guys knows his rudderless quiver.

Yes, sorry.  He was on his Foote Maliko 14.  There is a thread here from when it was being built.

I'm not surprised. I still say he's an extra-terrestrial. The one time I got to share the water with him he pulled away so fast it looked like he had anti-gravity onboard.
