Rusty Boardworks SUP's...anyone have feedback?
« on: July 06, 2010, 11:04:30 PM »
Hello to all of you,

Wondering if anyone has had a chance to test the new Rusty SUP's from boardworks.... looking at the 9"8 model lately...any feedback would be excellent...

Thanks,
Mike

Not tested one, but I saw a guy shredding on a yellow Rusty SUP at Malibu yesterday evening.  Massive gouging roundhouse cutbacks that had me hooting.

They've been out about a year very challenging to ride for the average guy but if you are good enough they can take your wave riding to a new level

That is all I know

Double check the volume numbers on the Rusty's.  I just volumized the 3 boardworks models and they came out higher volume than their original brochure, although the dimensions were correct, except thickness.  Latest volume numbers are on boardworkssup.com.  WG

Thanks fellas for all of your great info....

My only concern was the volume as WG mentioned concerning the 9'8". It says it can handle only up to 190 pounds but at 29 wide and 4 inches thick should be okay for a 195 pound person...especially if the volume numbers are not right...any thoughts

The Rusty 9-8 x 29.0 is 159 liters.   If you weigh 190 lbs or 86 kilos,

159/86 = 1.84 ratio, there is no problem with float.  I just measured the 9-8 boardworks rusty model in my volume tank, so that is the exact board The original brochure had the volume listed at 134 liters which would be tougher to stand on with your weight (ratio 1.55).   I ride a low volume board for surfing, my ratio is 1.45.
