Aloha Amigos,

Just sharing some pics of this great Brazilian sup surfer, Leko Salazar. He is ripping on an 8’8 board that I begged him to buy ;). Well, the board is freaking amazing in everything, from nose riding to aerials. But the thing I was most impressed by was it’s weight: less than 11 lbs.

Today I had my first session with the board and I can tell I was playing a whole new game. Will post some pics soon (as soon as I take them). Meanwhile, enjoy Leko saying goodbye to his board.

Mahalo do Brazil,
Bob.

When your name is Salazar, you have to be able to ride any kind of board, even a door. The board looks nice, rider is good.
Mahalo for this pictures, especially aerial and backside bottom turn.
Good surf Bob.

Aloha Marcelo,

That was in Rio de Janeiro, Praia da Macumba, during Petrobras Longboard Classic competition (Oct, 20th/22th). When you arrive in Santos, make sure to check their boards (www.newadvance.com.br) and ask sergio if you can have one demoed... You won't regret it...

Aloha Paddle-Papple,

You've got that right. Leko placed 2nd and his father, Picuruta, at 49 y.o., won by less than 1pt. Check out Picuruta in action down below...

Yes Bob.... Thats what were talking about...
The Shots are amazing...The Riders are rippin like Short Boarders...
Thats my vision of SUPin...
Looks like No Stringer on the 8/8 board...my 8/10 w stringer weigh in at about 13lb..
I found without stringers they will buckle after a while in big waves..
                      more please....  thanks..D

Aloha Dave,

Yep, the board is stringerless. I think in bigger waves we need boards with more weight and, definitely, a stringer will help to stiffen the board in order to hadle impacts. Today’s waves were chest to head high but were closing freaking fast. I wasn’t sure if that board could take hard beating so I decided not to take it. That was a wise call because I had some hard times in the impact zone.

Skills plays a major role and, of course, Leko is skilled enough to surf that board in non friendly conditions… I can feel my progress in sup and hopefully in short time I’ll be able to tear waves apart too…

Congrats on your boards too. I know for a fact that you’re pushing the envelope and that’s the ticket for evolution.

More pics from Leko & Picuruta soon coming.

Mahalo do Brazil,
Bob.

I've seen Picuruta hanging ten in big barrels at "la chambre d'amour" (south of France) some years ago (XXth century). THis was a great moment, amazing surfer!
Keep on posting Bob!

Aloha Paddle-Plappe,

Man, he is killing machine... He's still a master when it comes to camping in the nose, but he is also shinning as a strong, powerfull sup surfer... I wish I could rip like him when I become an 49 years old...

Some pics of him during PLC contest this last weekend.
