Nice to meet you as well!  I had a great little session Saturday afternoon in Surf City.

We'll definitely hit the waves after the race. The nice thing about Cape Hatteras is that there are always waves somewhere on the island!

See you on the 28th!

What is the overall course distance? Is it 3.5 miles?

It really depends on weather conditions.  Our first race, Labor Day weekend, the course was about 3.5 miles but half of that was straight into 20mph winds.  The second race, Columbus Day weekend, the course was a downwinder of about 3.5 miles with the option of a Long Course of 4.5 miles.

The race course will be determined the night before the event based on weather conditions.  These races are meant to encourage people of all abilities to participate so 3.5 miles to 4.5 miles seems about right.

But we are open to suggestions for sure.

A few paddlers have expressed interest in a SUP surf session after the race so I want to make sure everyone has enough energy for that!  :o)

Hi Carl! Wish I could be there. I know a few of us in WB would love to drive up but have holiday commitments. Keep me posted on the event, send me photos, results, etc. and I'll post them. Count on a bunch of us to drive up for the next event. (Just don't have it on Christmas.) Hope you're enjoying the waves. It should be epic there tomorrow.

Besides the overwash near S-Turns which of course washed Hwy 12 away, it really wasn't too bad.  Thankfully it only took them a few days to get Hwy 12 reopened and so the island is back in action.  There are a few deep puddles scattered about the island, but other than that it's buisness as usual.

Thanks for asking.
