I'm sure this is probably the third for fourth time this vid has been posted on the Zone but I'm surprised not on this particular thread.  Anyway I love this one and it's back when SUP was not yet considered a separate entity/sport from surfing and was more or less considered as an extension of long boarding even if nothing more than a novelty.  Before boards were 5 inches thick.

I like this Laird video because he occasionally wipes out on waves that are about the size I normally ride.  It makes Laird less superman and more approachable.

I have looked through this thread a lot over the years and there is a lot of great videos posted. Great thread. I love the longboard flow as much as anyone, but I have to say that aesthetically speaking the paddle kills the style of a lot of the videos. They are all good surfers, and good nose riders - this is not a slam on anyone but just my thoughts on longboard SUP.

There are great examples of stylish SUP longboard surfing in this thread. Whenever I am on vacation in Maui there is a shorter guy who SUS on a blue board (mostly at L'poko in the summer time) that makes it look great. I think they call him Ken, he is really stylish. The Dave Boehne video above is a good example too. I think they make it look a lot more like traditional logging, - chest and head up and forward, and the paddle is low behind the board. Then use the wave and their feet not the paddle power to keep momentum. Once the paddle comes out for bracing or spinning or whatever, it becomes a bastardized version of noseriding (IMVHO). Not that the Laird video isn't really cool, it just isn't my idea of noseriding.

Curious about y'all's thoughts on that. I try to noseride my SUP too (cheater five) and I am 100% sure I look totally gross doing it. That doesn't make it any less fun, the sensation is great. It doesn't have that magic carpet, up and down wiggle of loggin' a 10' single fin, but it still is awesome.
Make paddleboarding great again!

I agree noseriding has to be done with a certain style and ease.

On the other hand, noseriding is only one form of longboarding.
