I would recommend "How to get your board off the beach 1

No offense to Dave Kalama but 2 is just not as interesting for some reason...

Yup - Sorry Dave - "How to get off" #1 is WAY better.

Good series of files for the masses.

Well Done.

Seems a little over-simplified to me......

having watched people on the beach I actually think these are necessary. Anything that can minimize the chance of a runaway board is good IMO.

Remember that these are aimed at the absolute beginner / non surfer.

For that I think they are perfect.

Good stuff.

When you guys do pivot turns, do you switch which foot is the back foot depending on which way you want to turn the board?

I should preface by saying I've only been on flat water and I am a regular foot.
So, I've been practicing PTs by doing figure 8's...I like put the right foot back when doing a left turn and put the left foot back when doing a right turn.  This makes all turns occur on my backside and keeps paddle placement on the front.  I don't know if doing it this way is effecient or not, but it's fun and looks styling if the 180 can be done in two strokes.

I've also found that doing switchstance PTs makes regular stance PTs in either direction feel more solid.

What do you think?
