Prices just keep on dropping ...
« on: August 16, 2009, 05:18:19 AM »
I don't know anything about this Maui-based company and whether it's reputable or not; but it looks to be pricing its board so cheaply that you gotta wonder how much it really costs to make a SUP.  Prices are 750 or 699 depending on how you read the site.  anyone got any insight into this co?

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey - John Ruskin

i dont knwo the brand and they may be fine but you can go to china
and get a plastic surfboard shaped object made for 50 bucks
if you want

you gotta wonder how much it really costs to make a SUP.

Now you've done it  ;D

Deflation at work, import style.  The underbelly of lower cost, overseas production.  This has played out in many industries, where prices (and margins) started strong but as competition increased, brands drove each other ever lower and lower.  This is a very tough cycle to break.

Carafino has the most user friendly entry level boards to progressive boards on the market at this time and the prices are fair, your all just use to paying so much more. There is nothing cheap and there is nothing of poor quality with regard to any of our products, we have simply taken the rules of retail and made them work for the buyer. Very shortly will have demo units on the EAST, GULF and WEST coast of the US along with Australia and you can take the board for a try. If you like its yours at our advertised price. No gimmicks.
We are known to sell the Ferrari of hydrofoils and now we bring the Ferrari of SUP's to the market. I look forward to helping you create memories that last a lifetime. The time is now.

I am pleased to hear that  :)

Hey Mango,

Glad to have you here.  I am sure others will want to know, so I'll throw it out there: are your boards sandwich construction?  Let us know how they are made, etc.  That will be very helpful.
