Naish takes it to Starboard.
« on: June 19, 2009, 06:45:06 AM »
Naish takes on Starboard with an even bigger range of boards.

Today I got a sneak peek at the new Naish range of boards... and Wowser!!!

I thought Starboard had taken the SUP lead with about 16 different boards in their new range.

But Naish have out done them with 21 different boards in their new 2010 range.

There is a range of Glide boards.. 5 boards.

Also a Nalu range.. 8 boards.

And a Hokua range.. 5 boards.

And a Mana range.. 3 boards.

Also 6 different paddles.

The Mana board that I liked was about 9'5" x 31"

Their 2010 brochure has a great picture of Dave Kalama on the front in a huge barrel and he's reaching up with his paddle to touch the wave curling overhead.

I hope I haven't spilled the beans with this news too soon so don't go hassling the shops just yet... It can be our little secret for now.

Hi DJ,
We're stoked to be representing both of these two leaders in the SUP industry...
We are eagerly awaiting many of the new offerings...

FYI...just got an email from the top dog at Starboard...I counted at least 24 SUP's in the new lineup...multiply that by 4 constructions and even more color choices...the board options go over 100...

No.. Some are white.. The Mana is yellow.. Maybe they should have called it the Ban-nana..  ;D

Thanks SUP Sports.. You're right.. Starboard wins with all their different construction types.

Both great brands.. Both great boards.

It's amazing to think just a few years ago I had to buy the biggest mal I could buy because I couldn't buy a real sup..  :)

I just ordered the Starboard Whopper.  I had initially put a deposit on the Glide, 'cause I thought at 34" wide the Whopper would feel like a slug, but I paddled my buddies on a flat lake and it's not too bad and tracks amazingly straight!  So I changed my order.  Can't wait to surf it in the sloppy little waves we get here. It will be a bit odd switching between a 18' X 28" Bark & a 10' X 34" Starboard.

Naish & Starboard have certainly raised the bar in board choices these past two seasons.  That's good for everyone in the long run I suspect.

I've heard that the Whopper is a great board.

btw.. There's a new Naish Mana board that's 10'6" x 35".. That sould be a great board for the really big guys.

Naish, Kalama & my brother in law (photographer) are at the Gorge in OR right now and working their way up the Washington coast to Tofino over the next few days... I am assuming they are shooting the new products.  I challenged them to stop by my house so I could race them on my 18' Bark  :D

They are in Westport,Wa today, not sure for how long. Depends on waves... I would guess they will be in Tofino tonight at the earliest or sometime tomorrow.  Look for a gigantic motor home with armed guards :)

If taking the lead is decided by the number of models in your line... lets see

We have 7 designs in different models each, totaling 29 total ;-)

3 models of Cutback
4 models of Wave Rider
4 models of Wave Rocket
3 models of Enigma
4 models of the chopper
6 of the Sprinter
and 5 of the Trainer

Good for Nash for going all out. he makes awesome boards

reminds me of GM.... :(

seriously, I am not into racing, but if I would be, I certainly will buy from the one who custom builds exclusively race boards, not from someone who sells 5 racing models out of 50... my 2 cents...

Pricing is based on size, not model, but most of the surf sized shapes are in the $1000 mark
