adjustable rocker
« on: March 13, 2017, 10:24:38 PM »
I've seen these before - amazing for a folding kayak  - you might not know it's a folding boat at first.

what I hadn't seen was this trick:

Watch him crank it from totally flat to banana in about 5 seconds:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XV76euN9HE

It would be cool to see a combination of this frame as a hybrid iSUP with an air-floor  or something.

I know I'm dreamin' - but thinking outside the box is fun :D - I was thinking of this since looking at the latest "canoe" style unlimiteds. I am sure it wouldn't literally be THIS kayak shape, exactly - but this kayak shape isn't that far way, is it?

This vid is on Skookumchuck - it's in banana form again:

I've seen the new Red board with a pretty neat adjustable rocker system on it..

I enjoyed watching that second video with the folding surfing sea kayak. Fun to watch since I have never seen anyone before surf waves like that in a sea kayak.

The one with the fiber rod on the front half, on top, right? Sort of an anti-rocker I thought?

But it could be set in tension instead of compression, yeah, that would be a way to "pull up" rocker on it....crank it up and down like that kayak....

I mentioned that trick on my review of the new RED Elite and it is meant an anti-rocker
and for maintaining rigidity in the nose so it won't "stick" to the water. The range of
rocker control is not radical though, but it could be if RED wanted to.
in progress...

Yeah - me neither  and they can crank it back to flat again and back to "touring" mode in seconds. They are beautiful in person too - they look like a quality hardshell till you touch the skin of the boat.

It looks like they are using the curve like carving ski's. That was fun to watch. No idea if it would "downwind" too - no experience here.
