Air Canada - dance floor
« on: March 08, 2017, 01:12:16 PM »
My buddy just flew with his board on Air Canada.  Looks like they used his board as the dance floor.

Before there were direct flights into Kauai, I experienced the same thing...but, worse...had the noses of my two guns broken off with HUUUGE footprints on the board bags...
Spent my first day on the North Shore doing board repairs...strangely, haven't had any issues flying with boards dozens of times in the 20 years since then...
FWIW, I mostly fly American, Alaska, & Delta...

SUPer coolio...
Even if you don't have to use it...never leave home without a repair kit...it's always a little unnerving opening up a bag to inspect your board(s) and paddle(s) upon arrival...;-)
I also never go on a paddlesurf trip without a surf mat and a pair of fins as extra insurance...;-)

Got to admit, don't care much for Air Canada. Much prefer Westjet and would pick them every time over Air Canada. Had a situation once where I had to fly to a funeral as a family member had passed away. I hadn't even thought of it, but another family member suggested that some of the airlines offer bereavement flights. I checked with Air Canada, and while they offered them, I had to provide a copy of the death certificate and I also know there were other requirements (sorry, can't remember what all was involved). I just wasn't going to ask the husband, who just lost his wife, for a copy of the death certificate so I could save a few dollars on the flight. Just couldn't do it. So I gave Westjet a call. Nothing to it. All I had to do was give the date of the service and there was something else. I think it was maybe the name of the person who passed away. Can't remember for sure what the second requirement was, but it wasn't much. Westjet was just so accommodating. When I returned home from the funeral I wrote a letter to Westjet and told them that we fly back to my wife's home town usually at least once per year. I had normally flown with Air Canada as they have direct flights whereas Westjet does not. In my letter I promised them that because of how accommodating they were in a difficult time, I would always fly with them when I had the opportunity to do so. And so far at least, I've been true to my word.

The Surf mat and Fins idea is genius.  advice taken on that.  never thought about that as a way to still have some fun if everything goes completely bad with gear
