A Project for Pono
« on: March 07, 2017, 04:14:37 PM »
My daughter found a sign....don't think it's old but just made to look it...at an antique store in New Bedford. I got it for Christmas. I installed some battery powered LEDs inside it and mounted it on what could pass for driftwood (demoed my old deck).. :). There are LEDs behind the wood as well. I plan on hanging it on the wall in my shop/garage.
Then I was thinking...I'm pretty sure Pono could hook me up with a controller that would make it flash when the surf forecast is good at my local and have the second set in the back go off when it's actually happening. Magic Seaweed has an API....8) ;D

So what up bro?

Yeah sure, no prob. Project #1432.  Or you could wander to Sparkfun, get an Arduino, and make it happen.

You could ignore the MSW api completely and drive it from weather with this: https://www.sparkfun.com/news/2324

Yeah man, an arguing and a slight mod to one of the existing weather notification scripts and you'd be done. Seriously maybe a couple of evenings at most.

Do it!!!

Good idea, it takes me back to the early 70's when I really wanted an alarm clock to wake me up around sunrise if the surf was good.  I wasn't the only one at the time who wanted one, but it never came to reality.
Today, modern day, still don't have one, but not really that much of a dawn patrol type guy anymore.
It takes a quiver to do that.
