And just how many low cycle of repetition jobs do you think will exist vs the millions of jobs that will be gone? If it's 1 in 10 I'd be very surprised...and that's just in the near term. And I'm not looking at the current culture and assuming it's the only model...of course it isn't the only model but it is the model that is about to get massively disrupted in a very short time. You seem to think there will be something to replace what these folks do...I don't see it. Teaching someone that worked the fields to bolt a car together is pretty simple to do in comparison to what's coming. I'd love to believe utopia is headed this way...but ....greed.

Not so much? We already have riots in the streets largely caused by income inequality at the core. What happens when it's affecting (many) millions more? I understand that change has always been with us but it's the pace of change and how broadly it will affect all industries (as Ng said) that worries me. There is no turning back and I'm not talking about preserving jobs but more about what society is going to do about it. It's coming and there will be a lot of people left behind.

I don't think we will see....we'll likely be dead before the shit really starts to hit the fan.

Maybe he'll take an advisory role for the 1,000's of AI startups that can't exist without big data :).

Mr. Doom. Guys like that get to write their own ticket. His courses look great. I'm going to take them.

That is a fact.  Not many guys get to say, "I Baidu fairwell" with confidence and have the certainty to land on top again.
