Jeff at Maui Hot Sails told me NOT to rinse my sails in shower water. They said salt water won't fog the window, but rinse water will.

Interesting about the fogged windows. I didn’t know that tip. Maybe it's mold that does that. I kite more anyway now and don’t have windows.

Rinsed sails shouldn’t be rolled up and put away wet because they’ll mold. Unrinsed the salt water prevents mold.

If your board is in a humid environment where the deck pad can get moldy or smelly you’re better off not rinsing it. Squishy pads tend to hold water.

Metal bits are of course less susceptible to rust if they are rinsed. That's the only benefit of rinsing. A single glass of water suffices for that job. If the board isn't in an ideal position  for pouring on the metal parts don't forget your mouth is good at squirting. Any kid knows that.
