Costa Rica 2017
« on: February 22, 2017, 08:29:37 PM »
It was an interesting trip this year. We were there from 1/26-2/12. It started out smooth sailing w/just me and my wife. About half way into the trip I messaged an old surfing buddy of mine via facebook an invite to come down and w/in hrs he had his flight booked! I picked him up the next day at the airport and gave him a crash course on the ins and outs of Costa Rica. Things got interesting once he joined us.
Snakes, bats, scorpions, centipedes, illness, airline problems, sharks, theft, miles and miles of dry dusty rock strewn dirt roads, crowded lineups, and flat tires all seem to fade away when you're having a blast laughing it up in good company.
Uploaded most of my fotos to facebook and made the album public. Now to get to editing my abundance of video from the trip.  :P

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

The problem with a trip like your's, I'd never want to return to my own country.  ;)

Interesting trip for sure and some nice photos...I have no  fear of any of those obstacles except for the "crowded lineups"

I was there the same time period, and tried to meet up, but we had some interesting events as well. Still a really fun trip, probably the best I've had to CR so far. 11 days didn't seem long enough, it is really hard to come home.

Did you have a drone w/you this trip, APPST_Paddle? I was so looking forward to seeing you w/one. You woulda loved the outer reef where I was surfing my sup almost all alone. Only one other dude kept showing during the 3 day run I had there. He was this French dude w/a Hawaiian girlfriend. She had a Blue Planet longboard. She said it came from HI. He ripped on this super modern fast looking shortboard shape seven something sup. Guy was totally dialed. He lives a bit to the north of this spot and knew when to hit it.
He dey are, brahdah!

The brave Caribsurf fears no Costa Rican obstacle! Good way to be down there. Def have to endure.

Night Wing, there's no place like home. But travel feeds the soul.
