Any details on this PSH All Arounder?
« on: February 16, 2017, 10:59:21 AM »
I just bought a 9'6" Paddle Surf Hawaii "All Arounder" off Craigslist, couldn't resist the $650 and pristine condition. I'm wondering if anyone knows any details on it? It has a different tail than all the other PSH All Arounders I've seen so I'm wondering if its an early design?

I've had one session on it in crappy windswell and its a fun cruisey board, plenty stable for me and I'm 6' and 210 pounds. Not a barge but also not a potato chip. I haven't had it in proper conditions yet but it was surprisingly turney even with my absurdly wrong fin setup.

It came with a tiny little 4" or so single fin, and I forgot to bring spares, so that was challenging, but ultimately fun. Sideways takeoffs!

And does anyone have any fin setup recommendations? I'll probably run it as a thruster.

And those stickers are heading for the trash!

I had one 5 yrs ago, fun all around board.  I found it worked best for me with a 7" center and 4" sides.   I mostly surf CA central coast beach breaks and reefs with lots of water moving.   built to last, kinda wish I had it back.   I am looking for PSH 12' gun in good condition if any one knows of one available.   enjoy the board.

Ha that's the board that gave me my love for PSH boards. Love that board. I also have the Jimmy Lewis Bombora, which is a very similar shape with a touch more rocker. I love that board too, and have been grabbing it on big days over the PSH, so you might want to include that in your search.

I'm in Northern California, surfing mostly beach breaks too.

Thanks for the tips on the fins.

Probably an older model, they added quad boxes  on later models. 7" center and 4" sides sounds about right to me, that's about what I use on our 10'6 PSH AA.

This is about an 8yo 9-2 allarounder. Yours must be older than that as Blane had become a quad believer by then. I've got 4 allarounders and they all work as quads or singles. Good luck with the fin puzzle.

Nice score for $650...can't go wrong with that especially in such good condition.

Agreed, score. I actually had to haggle up to $700 since I couldn't pick it up for 3 days and there's no way it was going to last. And plus I'm the world's worst haggler.

I wish I'd stumble on that deal. I'd scoop it up in a second. I love that board! But I might be a bit biased seeing as it was the board I learned how to sup on way back in 2011. My buddy had the 10'6" in his garage and he only wanted it for waist high days and would let me use it whenever I wanted. I would be stoked to hop on the 9'6". I even have a small claim to fame from when I sent a shot of me on the thing to the PSH website and they posted it!  8) Good luck w/the old beauty! An 8' center fin w/small side bites will work perf and I'd leave every sticker on there, but that's a superstition thing I have from way back. My dad always told me to leave things as they were when purchasing used items. Karma thing I guess.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

This board is a great find. Pristine condition and only $650. Can't beat that with a stick. Enjoy.

That's a good find at a good price. I had an 11-foot PSH all arounder and upgraded to this for my second board. The actual dimensions are 9'1" by 28 and 5/8". Mine is a 2010 model and contained no hand hold. It was one of the first models to come to the mainland. My guess is that yours is a 2011 or so. I think this was just before Blane Chambers sold to Surftech? You'll be happy with the ruggedness of this board. I've had my for five years now and it's in great condition. One thing I noticed is that you going to walk around this board a lot. With any type of offshore winds you're going to want to walk towards the front of the board to get the nose down.
