Supnorte.. here is another 50 knot downwind vid for comparison to the ones on page 1.... I think the difference is your run is close to the shore and so it may not look as windy as it is..

^ OffShore,

The opening scenes of the Teulade Bro's clip is just a few 100 meters wind fetch. They start in LaCiotat and end at SixFours (Brutal Beach) in Mistral. You can see land right behind them at the start. Just a few Km further the waves get big. There's another vid from that day I think, I'll try find it.

SUPnorte,
Thanks for sharing your videos. Looks like a fun day. Those zero-fetch high-wind runs are wildly fun and glide like crazy as the waves are nice and steep. On video they don't come out as impressive, I know.

In the one where you fall it looks like a gust blew you off?
I imagine it's gustier on the river than out at sea. The sea must have been wild that day. I heard about the accident there.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Yugi, there were a few gusts that knocked me out of the board (when there were too much angle to the wind).

We usually do our runs on the ocean, and only go inland when there are big storms with south wind. When it's North wind we go to the ocean, with South wind the ocean turns into big mess. The last one we did the buoys recorded (this is official reading, not estimate):
Significant wave height: 2,81 meters
Maximum wave height: 5,26 meters
Period (medium): 7 seconds
Period (maximum): 18,8 seconds
There were a lot less wind but it was pretty hardcore (sorry, not footage, my gopro has a broken piece).

supnorte - def keep the vids coming.

"when there were too much angle to the wind"

The footage getting knocked off a board is always very interesting.  And many paddlers new to DW can learn a ton from those clips.  As noted it looked like you had fun - and that is what matters.  Always seems better to understate an estimate and say - yeah it was about 15 kts - when it looks like 25 in a pic or vid.   ;)
