I love the blowholes coming up from the road. Nothing like a saltwater bath for your car.

In the not to distant past idiots like this would be flushed from the gene pool..for the last 70+ years we have been rescuing these clowns from themselves...and they keep breeding....how's that worked out? Adult children living with their parents with a skill set consisting of drinking alcohol, taking drugs, playing video games. Yea we're advancing at breakneck speed...were so much smarter and civilized than our ancestors...🙄

But he's sure that 4wd can go anywhere....... Guess not. That guy was so close to dead. He should have been wearing a pfd. I didn't see a leash either.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Apparently the guy was from Arkansas...and, literally didn't have a clue...that is one very lucky mofo...lots of folks have lost their lives out there in less...

When I was getting my Oceanography degree from Humboldt, we often would go out to North Jetty to watch and feel the energy from those mega-swells...even climbing up into the light tower...super scary...it would move those dolos around...

I had an Oceanography prof that liked to take our research vessel out on big days...it eventually sunk...;-)

I remember one ginormous during El Nino of '82/'83, where the waves completely broke over the jetty like it wasn't even there...big and a half...much bigger than this...

https://youtu.be/AUIiX7D1KDc

The Coasties play around (practice) at the Entrance on smaller days...but, I've seen their Cutters flipped upside down like toys in a bathtub on bigger days...

Holy shit dude!!  I have no argument that this guy isn't the brightest bulb in the package, but anticipating he's a product of a substance abusing dysfunctional family (or the patriarch of one)?  I've known plenty of well educated stable people doing stupid human tricks like this.  Hardly uncommon.

Yea, don't be so quick to judge people. Maybe he was just following directions given by his GPS. Built and programmed by some pretty smart folks.

It's a miracle he didn't get swept off the jetty when he got out of his truck. So maybe God thinks he was worth keeping.

Drive it like you stole it!

LOL!
Drive it like you live...fast and hard!...;-)

When I was in college there in Humboldt, I had a connect at the CG station out near that jetty...he'd let me look at the isobaric charts in the days before surf forecasts...good big wave surfer...but, he said that when they took the Cutters out in the big stuff they would literally poop their pants...YIKES!

There was a crew of us that would drive our 4X4's out on the jetty to surf...
We normally reversed back off the jetty to the sand...only on the smaller days did we drive out to the end to turn around...it was in a lot better shape back then...last time I was out there they had stopped repairing it...huge black holes of death... it would get sketchy some times...nobody got washed off...but, a few guys lost their trucks in the soft sand looking for sand bars and secret spots behind the Redwood Curtain...my buddy had a plane that made it easier for us to scout them out...;-)
