Terrifying
« on: January 17, 2017, 09:07:45 PM »
Only one sup in this video. I couldn't even imagine!
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Those powerful large waves in the video remind me of the large waves at the end of the movie in "Point Break".

Cringe....  to have a moment to reflect on the uncertain outcome of the following minutes before everything explodes and you lose all control.

Whoa baybeee!!!

Watching guys submerging and diving but knowing that they are going on the Niagara Express is pretty spooky.  Can't imagine going out in conditions where anything like those monsters could catch you off guard. Yikes. Fun to watch but stuff of nightmares.

There were 2 SUP's in that scene.  #1 Ian: Kick over, #2 Haley: Dive through.

What is most amazing is that given all the carnage throughout the entire video NO ONE DIES.

This likely means you are more resilient than you think.  Now go out and get some!!!

^  They got waist leashes on? Tho it did seem quite a few were breaking like thread.
Yeah, watching them bail is something else. Not sure if I like that or the boards already empty or the boards flying like toothpicks better.
Guys making it over is really impressive.

Cool to read everyones experiences and viewpoint on this subject.
I've done the up and over w/limited success. Never in 25' to 40' faces though. :P

Successful attempt. Board made it over and I punched through.

Went over the falls, board made it.

Evan Adamson captured this from his drone in S. Africa.

It takes a quiver to do that.

The happiest moment in surfing is when you barely make it over that huge, feathering outside surprise--especially if it takes out all your buddies. The second worst moment is when you don't quite make it, and you get pulled over the falls. The worst moment is when you hit the water having gone over the falls and feel yourself being dragged up the face again--the only time when mushburgers give a worse beating then pitching waves. In my experience, the tossers only stuff you once.
