Actually  San Diego  is compatatively  very  good  thanks  to  Donna  Fry, Skip s   wife. San Diego   does  the  most  extensive  testing  and publishes  the  results . Most  Southern  California  towns  are afraid  to  because  it  scares  the  tourists  away .  They  have  implemented  many  things  to  reduce  run off  issues .

Good to note that SD is way worse than LA or OC for runoff.

I wanna try Coronado soon, just for the scenery but my hopes are not high.

I surf Coronado frequently, and consider Gator Beach (on the Navy base, just South of Coronado Shipwrecks beach break) as my "home break."  It's a beach break with short, fast rides, and both L/R sections that close out very quickly...but it's a lot of fun at 2'-4', for me at least. Staying away from Coronado for (at minimum) 3 days after heavy rains is most highly recommended, however.

Wait a sec.  Why would I argue with this?!?!

All of SD, Cardiff in particular, is dirty and dangerous!  Especially when there is swell and the winds are offshore.  Do not surf here if you value your health.  Three people died on the day pictured below.  Scary stuff!

so what would a bacteria-born illness be like?  and could it come on overnight?  i went out a tourmaline yesterday and woke up this morning feeling flush and yetch, though not so bad that didn't go surfing again.  but no runs or trots or throwing up or anything.

This article was from last year in San Diego.  I guess if you have an underlying health issue staying out of the water after a heavy rain might be a good idea.

If you look at the Doheny Cam right now, you'd have a hard time convincing someone that this is the ocean and not a very large lake with absolutely no wind blowing anywhere.

After a great November the wave machine has turned off!  Last few days have been great for getting in some miles offshore and the major snow event across central CA is keeping me distracted.  Mammoth is in the midst of an epic 10 day period of snow.  Calling for up to 20' by the time its finished later next week.

It's definitely been contrarian in Santa Cruz.  Big Wave November, but just very patchy waves since then.  The big storm the last couple of days left everything today flat.  It's the first year I have seen the late fall, early winter worse than a typical spring/summer.

finally got out, first time in 4 weeks. Trail 6 8:30 to Noon. Absolutely gorgeous day, 74 F air 56-58 F water pods of dolphins within 20 feet., 1-3 with an occasional shoulder high set wave.  I got way outta shape in the last month, so it's good to get back in and surfing.  Mrs. Slatch had the set wave of the day.

Trails is probably too much of a hike for you linter, but if a little walk isn't a problem, it rewards you nicely on days like today.

The past   two   days   have  been  small  but  a lot  of  fun  at Sunset  Cliffs , glassy and low   tide  all  day. I   might  be  able  to  get  a  sup in  before  the  rain  today .
