Prone heats now. No more boof noses...???

Not sure what noses you are referring too, but I saw nothing but boof noses on the prones and sups.  Certainly no straight cutting or planning noses, but everything seemed to be some type of modified boof.  I'd call them full boof, like the All Stars, Aces and many of the prones like the Barks.  Or dropped nose planning boofs like many of the prones, the Naish Javelins, etc.  The only oddballs I noticed were the Naish Maliko with the mini planning boof and the SICs which I'd call mini cutting boofs.

p.s.  For all you Ace fans, a pretty cool battle in the Women's final, All Star vs Ace.  The Ace kicked butt unwind, but surprise, the All Star was faster downwind:)

Not sure why you'd say that. It looked to me that in those conditions, and considering who was on the boards, it was a pretty convincing demonstration of the Ace's virtues, all round.

^ the Ace did seem to work well for Penelope upwind. Olivia seemed to struggle more on the Allstar. Then DW Olivia systematically managed to eek a lot more glides out of the Allstar. I noticed the same thing. The Ace looked better upwind. But then again I'm definitely more of a fan of rockered noses for upwind than cutting bow.

The interview with Penelope after their race blew me away. That's one of the most amazing things I've ever heard.

I'm not a prone expert, we don't have many here and no races (too cold water too much of the year), but I have seen and been on some. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the impression over the years that the prone board noses went from displacement, to Ace-like boofy and now I see more of a tendancy to sharper noses. Still a ski jump rocker but less boofness.

Long distance about to start.

As expected and my experience as well - that the Ace simply hauls like no other board upwind.  But it cannot do pivot turns - and at 38 and did not train after removing a tumor - Penelope knew she was faster than anyone upwind.  That is a huge advantage for sure.  Olivia did fantastic on the All Star though around the buoys and DW surfing - but Candace and Lina kept the leaders honest.  It was very clear though the speed Penelope had upwind.  Power and solid balance.

The conditions out there were fantastic and we get similar wave action round here except without the surf.  Those are my type of conditions for quick upwind DW runs.  And that race clearly shows off both boards perfectly.  Fantastic 1 - 2 for SB.

Casper does the perfect move on that surfing wave on the inside to pass the leaders on the technical race - Haha.  Kai got one early but Casper got the big one along the reef.  Perfect strategy.   ;D
