It's been hot, glassy and pumping in SoCal
« on: November 10, 2016, 10:08:17 PM »
Great session this morning. Overhead, glassy, sunny, and not crowded.

First time I mounted my GoPro on my board. Guess what... it cropped my head off. I wonder why?

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

So it was DOH for me? ;)

I love those long waves down there. Looks so good. I'm ready for the weekend.

@TallDude

I enjoyed watching your video. Although the camera cropped your head off, for a beginner in sup surfing, the video showed of where you place your feet on the board, how far back your feet were on the board towards the tail and your foot work a you surf the waves.

These are the things I like to watch for in sup surfing. Details like these help a newcomer (like me) learn how to sup surf (in my opinion). Thanks for sharing your video.

You know if you see any wave slope in a go pro video, San Onofre is working. Plenty of breaking waves, sunshine, and calm winds. Oh great, the secret's out.   ;)

Cool vid Matt.

I almost always surf in board shorts, rash guard and a hat. Went it gets bigger I know I'll be swimming a lot, I'll put on a wet suit and ditch the hat. I wish I had brought my 9' green machine. There was definitely enough power and size to ride that board.

Wing.. I better get a pedicure before I do another board mount perspective.

Cowboy... Going to be fun this weekend!

Slatch... Hopefully you guys get some of this. It's missing DoHo. Too steep of an angle.

Topanga's been firing and hot this week. First time I had to get out of the water to drink some water.

Thinking of heading north to Ventura county this weekend.

Sunset Cliffs area has been going off for a week and a half. Seems like the only surf we get is ankle high and double overhead. I prefer something in between.

For us the angle has been right.  Not just walls that beat you up. Definitely shoulders, long rides and channels to get out with less of a beating.

Cuz your TallDude!  :P
One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

We've had four days now, of glassy fair to huge surf that included yesterday's Peahi contest where our favorite son heli pilot Don Shear shared some take off zones with contestants taking monster drops like these.  saw Don out in the water this morning and he was still amped from flying in 'the zone' for several hours.

Sweeper, way to score some pro photos from Surfline.  Great shots, you should buy em.
Headmount, that wave is just nuts.

So what's the story behind the yellow Heli at Jaw's? Why is he out there flying on every swell?
Is he a paid pilot for a photographer?
