Anybody do or watch the Chattajack this year? Trying to find out who won and how long the times were. Looked cold and windy.

Lots of participants for that race. Organizers for that race were probably very happy with the turnout.

Thanks for sharing the link.

A friend of mine said he had tough winds in his face for most of the race.

Wow - this format clearly appeals to participants. And no broad media presence: this is relevant to the "Adios PPG" thread in terms of a possible inverse relationship between media coverage/ advertising and number of (amateur) participants maybe?

This looks great.

What? No live streaming? No big name pros? No huge money? Why would anyone even show up to do that? That's my kinda race! Lots of unlimiteds too :) Inspiring.... There is hope.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

46 degrees at the start although it was 90 degrees on thursday, it was a mass of paddle enthusiasts. Joe Bark and Larry were there. Wind is rare in the valley but it was roaring during the race. At least it wasn't raining! Great to see everyone there, I was a spectator. They had more than one portajohn this year too! If you look at 9:30 on the video you'll see Ben Frieberg (race founder) create a large wake through the surfski field, causing many to turn 90 degrees to battle the wave. One ski (Jeff) was surfed towards the dock and he barley missed it. Very frustrating for the paddlers.

Make sure you know when registration opens, it sold out in about 24 hours this year.

Thanks, I'll do that. I seem to remember giving a guy named Ben Friberg a few Ke Nalu paddles for an attempt of the distance paddling record years ago. Wonder if it's the same Ben.

Yes its' the same Ben that paddled 200 miles in 24 hours on the Yukon and from Cuba to Florida that started the race a few years ago. Also a very talented jazz musician. His ex-wife founded "Swim the Suck", a 10 mile open water swim also in October that I sometimes pilot for on SUP. Seems as though everyone is an athlete in this town, like your summer home.
