Stumbled on your "Thankful" video and couldn't help noticing the newer "Board pole mount" which is looking like only one pole extension as opposed to the tripod type you started out with. It looks much easier to mount and then maneuver with. Also I noticed you mount your paddle cam much farther towards handle than me. That def is going to help with swing weight but I would imagine doesn't flatter the view. Probably harder to get that tube shot like that.

Hi Marc, good eye and great shots.

Yeah that pole I have been using since June 2016.  I changed the configuration to make attaching it to the board way stronger, it's been bomb proof so far.

I struggle with the awkwardness of the paddle cam and yeah I mount it higher mostly to keep the cam from hitting the rails, especially on a new board.  :)
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.

Yes, thanks for sharing that. I especially liked the underwater ending coda...

I've been to your ClayIsland site before, but hadn't noticed the "best cinematographer" award.... very cool... and if that's new, congrats.

Thanks Dusk, that ending works for me to.    :)

Yeah the award was for the first film I made, from 2010:

Hi,

So I have been under the weather and resting for a couple days and wondering what to do with some video from a surf last week, bouncy high tide mush and a little tight for a SUP to navigate the crowd.

The footage reminded of a surf from last year so I put the video side by side.  Wow, I was immediately taken by how different the image is between the hero session 4 and session 5.   I double checked to make sure I hadn't made some effect that would change the quality and nope both files were straight out of the camera with no effects.

I found seeing the video side by side helpful and so I'm posting here and hopefully it will be helpful you all as well.

After uploading to YouTube I was surprised at how different the video looked there:

So I uploaded to Vimeo to see if more of the quality was preserved:

The video file still looked better on my computer in Adobe Premiere, so attached is a frame grab.
And likewise it looked better in Windows Media Player before I uploaded to the internets, so I attached a frame grab from there as well.
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.
