+ 1 more to the accolades

I never liked any spray on or stick on before.... I have HEX on my Speeed nose and haven't given it a thought, so it works!

It's nice to be able to preserve the beauty of your board, because you can only see it if you try.

Now if they would just drop the price a little, I could put it on more boards  :)

Is this stuff transferable?

I am thinking about putting it on an older board that may have a limited lifespan.  Given the cost just wondering if you can remove / reuse.

I tried it on my prone board for a month. I could not get used to the less than positive connection to the board when paddling out, especially in bigger and/or choppier surface conditions, and found I just like wax better for regular surfing. However, for SUS boards, where you are getting the connection through your feet, I feel very positive about the Hexatraction.

I mounted it as they suggest, using water and a plastic squeegee to get rid of bubbles. I was able to remove all of the hexes after it was on my surfboard for a month, without any visible damage to either the tiles or my board. I transferred some of the tiles to the nose of my SUS board and was able to reinstall them. I was worried about tearing them or that the adhesive would not hold up but so far, so good. Not as good as the original installation but acceptable.

Is the stuff good enough to completely replace a traction pad? Or just for the nose?

I think that really depends on whether or not you like the feel of the Hexa. One of the things that is nice about a traction pad is the cushioning. That helps with fatigue during long sessions and can save you from getting bumped by a hard board when you fall and smack the deck.

I think the Hexatraction is adequate for grip and I can see how some people would like the more direct connection to the board that Hexatraction would provide in comparison to a pad. The Jimmy Lewis Supertech line, for an example, comes without deck pads so you could use wax, install a pad or a product like Hexatraction.

So, yeah, for traction alone, you could replace a pad with it, if that's what you'd prefer. It is a different feel so if you get a chance to try a board with the Hexatraction on it, it's very informative.

Yes, both my boards have full Hexatraction deck.  No pad.  Looks better and board is more responsive under foot.

I know a few people who have ether ended up waxing on top of it or pulling it back off after a while and going back to deck pads I don't think its a clear cut choice.

I like it a lot. Or I should say, as Creek says, I pay zero attention to it, and I run all over the board.

I did manage to put my knee through the board a few weeks ago. I think if it had a pad it might have not been such a substantial divot, then again I might have just cracked it under the pad and slowly filled the board up. As it was, I pulled off the crushed glass, soaked the area down with distilled water to rinse out the salt, stuck it upside down for two days and fixed it. Not quite so pretty now, but the hexatraction peeled up just fine and went back down with no problems

Ditto.  I've had it on 3 boards now and can't imagine going back to a pad.

Trying it out on the new board.  Hexatraction in the front.  Under foot I have had NO PROBLEMS.  It sticks even to my surprise.

When laying on the board with a wetsuit, or on my knees it can be slippery.  Has me concerned about scrambling in whitewater trying to avoid being bashed on the rocks.  But this is just a fear at this point and may be unfounded.

I wish I had this stuff on my old waxed board, certainly in the tail section and upfront where I never lied down or sat on the board with my knees.

Ok you all sold me. I would like to replace the entire factory pad on my Naish Hokua. The board is a 2011 and has the bamboo top. My only question is what does the deck look like under the pad. Is it nicely finished bamboo like what shows in front of the pad? Or is it "unfinished" since it is covered by the pad? What am I going to find under there if I take the pad off? Does the Polynesian deck design continue under the pad?

It's unfinished under the pad. The ones I stripped had board weight with sharpie marking under it. It's ugly under there.
