Dropped the board of at Pure Glass today, let the wait begin.  Final approximate dimensions and volume: 6'3.5"x27.5"x4.02"x80L

Glassing:
Didn't go with Future Flex.  I went with 4x4 bottom with 4x4 + 3/4 6 deck patch on top.   This is the same glassing schedule I have on my 84L Buzz and I find it to be a good compromise between weight and durability.

Colors:
I decided on a simple Matte Black Deck with Plain Bottom.  Final render below.  The logos are for illustration only.  The board is being glassed without any logos.  I'm working on some logos to add after glassing...

My Infinity 'Big Tex' prone short board was 7'2 x 23 x 3-1/2. I sold it about 5 years ago. It floated me to about my chest:) Super low wave count at my age.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Looking good Anon.

Thank you.

Any concerns about the black deck and rails +the sun+EPS?

I am not concerned with the black since it should be pretty submerged when standing on it and I don't leave my board out when not riding it.  It goes from bag to surf to back in bag.  I did leave the bottom white intentionally just in case I do need to leave it out for a short period.

You never know though.  If it does become an issue it will be one more lesson learned.  Everything on this board - shape,  volume, length, color - is one big experiment.  I wanted to do something different for my first design.    I have learned a lot in the process of designing, ordering the blank, sanding etc.

I am hoping for a bit more flotation than chest deep :-)  Maybe ankle deep with a little nose showing.

Nice shape. Do you maybe have an idea on the cost of the preshaped blank+ the cost for the glassing?Does glassing include the sanding as well? maybe I will outsource my next board as well as i have currently no space to build another one myself.

Total cost is $620 for finished board.  That includes:

Marco 1.5# EPS blank
CNC cut w/ high res option
Base glassing (4x4/4) w/ extra top and bottom layers, top color and cut laps, standard sanded finish
5 fin Futures boxes
FCS handle with vent

I could have cut $100 from the final cost if I did my own paint/color.   Options like carbon or gloss finish would be extra.  Your blank and glassing cost will increase with board size (this is a 6'4" board).

Who cut your board for you? It looks like nice work! I'll be out your way in just over a Month. I used to live in Dana Point so know the area well. I would like to see your board design and glassing etc. I've got 2 boards going now that are being glassed by Terance Brandt in HB. We can compare notes!
Thanks,
FM

Sounds good.  I had Marco cut the blank.  The board should be finished by mid Nov but you know how that goes.     My last two boards were glassed by Bashams and I have been happy with their work.  Pure Glass was a little more expensive but I wanted to try them out for comparison.

I know right!  I will be spending another $100 on Hexatraction, tail pad and decals so that'll bring the final cost up.  But still not too bad.
