In the final, tech race, Mo had leapt out to a significant lead.  The last lap he turned the third to last buoy unmolested and was half way in.  He glanced back to see the following pack of three paddlers clear that same buoy but all hooking into a wave.  He knew they would ride up and catch him on that wave so he stopped paddling and waited to catch it as well, before it broke.

Mo caught the wave and then the three, Conner, Kai and James, were riding on the inside of him as they rode towards the second to last buoy.  Mo drew a hard bead on the mark squeezing the other three hard.  What happened was a slight tangle which Conner broke out of the cleanest.  From there on he had an uncontested line on the finish.  Kai outran Mo at the finish and got second.  Lots of bumpin

I found it very remarkable to see 9 paddlers 60 and over in the PPG.  The top guy in that range, John Bland, was 69 as well as our own Pono Bill, who also at 69, had a very respectable showing.

Yo, next year (and I say this every year, so hold me/us to it) let's bring a pop up and set up a zoner base camp. I got the tent and as long as we stay off the main drag of the booths I'm sure they'd be fine. A shady place to drop your boards and stuff (and husbands and wives?) with a cooler or two would probably be welcomed by all.

I missed seeing you goofballs.
