9 oz Carbon on sale at FGS
« on: September 25, 2016, 09:28:24 AM »
No affiliation, just passing on a good deal to the folks here. Fiberglass Supply has this cloth pretty cheap.

Anything you carbon guys would use on a board?

<<<<<<<------------>>>>>>>

8.85 oz Carbon Fiber Fabric
We have made a special buy on 8.85 oz x 50" carbon fiber fabric and are passing the savings onto you.  Style PC366 is a plain weave carbon woven with 12K Toray T700SC carbon tow.  This fabric features a more open weave for improved drapability, ease of wet out, and air release.

We are excited to be offering this carbon because it makes it economical to build structural parts out of carbon, which should open up a lot of opportunities to convert heavier parts built out of other materials to composites.

Pricing is as follows:

Full Roll (100 yards) $8.99 per yard
16-100 Yards $9.56 per yard
4-15 Yards $11.24 per yard
1-3 Yards $17.99 per yard

A little on the heavy side you would defiantly want to vac it down to consolidate it.

Yeah, I figured it'd be better for patches etc.

I might get some for rails or stringer strips.

Maybe a mast for one of y'alls foils?

The hydrofoil strut/mast that I built used all unidirectional and biax.  Plain weave has half the material in the wrong direction, and in this one part it does seem to matter.  Mine has a thin corecell core, and mine is just stiff enough so plain weave would not work.  Perhaps over hardwood it might work.

It's a great deal though, I just need to figure out where i could use it......
