nw: thanks!

creek: can't wait to see your video.  i have been making some progress recently -- got two clean 5s today and a number of almosts -- based largely on the thoughts in this thread and repeated viewings of a Gong video i'll post one of these days.  a few things i've learned, one of which you mention.
you've got to be willing to blow the wave.  i have a very hard time with this but i think it's absolutely necessary to success.  i have a tendency to stop after step one but more often than not that's a mistake.  gots to take the second step pdq after the first.  the key for me here is to set the rail before the first step instead of before the second.
if possible, surf alone, with no eyes on you anywhere.  i've got a spot where quite often i'm the only one out.  makes it a lot easier to blow wave after wave after wave in the service of some greater good when you don't have anyone watching and judging, either in the water or on shore.  probably no one is looking anyway, but in the moment, i have a hard time convincing myself that all eyes are not on me, ha ha.
jim's comment on setting the edge has made a big diff.
i've got one other new secret weapon but i'm loath to say it lest it no longer work for me.  came via the wisdom of jimmy lewis, who has been endlessly helpful in my quest for tip time.
ps when you post your video, creek, why don't you do it in the 'technique' forum and start a kind of instructional thread?

Hey Guys- I have the XL version so I can weigh in.

I'm 200-210lbs depending on the day and the season.

I use it as my knee high or less board- solely on beach breaks on small days.  I can echo most of what Creek has said.

One thing  i do like is the 'secondary' stability it has- and the rails are razor thin for a board this length.

I actually find the square nose a bit weird for noseriding.  because of how wide it is it can 'scoop' the wave a bit- and takes even more balance than a traditional longboard noserider because of the width.

one great thing is the tail.  It really whips around if you need it too.

I find the shape to be a great compromise to do it all on a longboard- and really light.  It definetly has more of a 'performace' feel to it than a log shape.  but as Creek Said- when properly finned it will let you play up front.

I have run it with a Single Greenaugh Stage 6, A big single fat noserider fin and a Notched CI fin with the stock sidebites and its like having 3 different boards to ride.

all in all fun board...Now if Sunova would just ditch the RIDICULOUS Lift-Sup handle it would be great. It is the huge wart on a beautiful body....
