Am all-around board is a great thing to have in your quiver. Even when you get better, you'll loan it to your friends or use it for teaching. If you're going on vacation and can only bring one board, then an all-around is perfect.

+ 1 on that. All around boards are great first boards... Using your original board to teach others to SUP is a great reason to "upgrade and keep" rather than "upgrade and sell" especially if the 2nd hand prices are not good.
