Pay It Forward
« on: August 24, 2016, 08:19:29 PM »
Standup Zone is a cool forum. And I have been fortunate enough to meet quite a few Zoners in person and have reaped the benefits of their generosity. This mainly includes Tom, supthecreek, digger, JimK, and Tino. So when iopsailor posted he was going to be just a few blocks from me this summer and in need of a board I invited him to use my 9-11 Ripper to "Pay it forward". Turns out he has only been on sup 2 yrs and had no prior surfing experience. We met on the beach in the morning and the waves were pretty small but super clean. iop did ok! I learned iop stands for Isle Of Palms where he lives and surfs in South Carolina. He's a kind and distinguished gentleman. btw, Alan, you're a regular foot, not goofy. Leash needs to be on your right foot!  :P
Tossed the shots from our first sesh togeth into my flickr.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Yeah, especially decent after I dinged the loaner and Marc rushed it  off to the Emergency Board Repair Facility and waved off my offers to pay for the damage.  Real Southern ( ocean County, NJ) Hospitality!  Plus his photos make me understand why my wife always says "Stand up straight".

Cookieman is a great host whenever I stop by LBI.... generous, lots of fun and great waves!

The Zone does link us with a lot of very cool people.... Cookieman, I will be swinging by again in the next month. warm up the WaWa  :)

iop... I taught SUP to a family today, that is moving to Isle of Palms in a few weeks! New paddlers... they are going to love it there!

Creek,
The water temperature today on LBI seemed fine to me, refreshing in fact compared to 87 degrees in Charleston harbor. Someone coming from Cape Cod should always find LBI balmy.
That family of new paddlers will be arriving in the sweet spot, September and October can be uncrowded and great conditions-- no rubber!  I'll PM you my contact info to pass on.
