Old Maliko
« on: August 22, 2016, 09:57:06 PM »
While I was fiddling around on youtube I found this old video. Haven't seen it in a while. I think we've all gotten a lot better, but it's fun and funny. I remember the day--it was quite a while ago, still had the jeep. Not a lot of wind, lots of swell. Big drops but hard to get into without the little ones to ladder off.

That's a nice video. Those swells looked big too.

Kind of medium day. I remember it because I crashed into Bill trying to do a flyby. Light wind after a long period of strong wind makes for an arduous Maliko run. The big swells travel too fast to get into without the boost from small local swells. You need little guys to get to medium, and medium to get to big.

Looked really good out there.

The 'geezer demolition derby' you have going on is clearly nutz - hollow boards, a mile offshore in sharky water, kaboom! No wonder Boyum punches you every so often.

The video is cool and there is some great gliding. In a few places, Boyum is just flying, you got some good shots. He was next to me on Kihei the other day and caught some mondo glides, super fun to look over and see him cooking along like that.

It's almost time for you to come back. It's actually been a pretty good summer, especially if you're willing to jump in the OC1 when it's on the light side. I haven't missed many days. Lots of surf in the morning, paddle downwind in the afternoon kind of days, can't complain about that.

He's pretty random about it. I think some strange combination of geezer neurons fire, he just suddenly remembers something shitty I did and whacks me. Usually a surprise.
