Foiling is the new trolling. How much drag would some fringe and a big treble hook add to my rig?

Interesting.  I wonder if the wing on the bottom of the foil acted like a lure.  Seemed like a little fish?

Either that, or sharks hate foil boards.

Wow, scary.  Yes, I can see how the foil would look enticing to a shark.

OK, if THIS is the future of the sport, then its time to come up with a new color scheme for the foil err...lure.

Paint some eyes on it, and require paddlers to buy fishing licenses .....

I bet the thin wings hum in the water, and if it's aluminum and carbon then it's a fine battery in salt water (the aluminum won't last) and it probably makes the ampullae of Lorenzini go off like a fire alarm.  The repeated hits mean it wasn't just a taste test--he (or she) was serious.

If our speculation is true, the foil board craze might fizzle.

Yep, like a big attractor-lure...the fish doesn't need to be hungry, just need to present the right lure to tease, aggravate and provoke the strike.

Yup, the name of the game for attracting predatory fish, no matter the species, get that strike response to activate.  And you can bet it is a hard wired, 420-ish million yr old reflex in the behavior of the Elasmobranchii.....i.e. sharks, rays, skates.  Have seen many times, and used to my advantage, this predatory aggressive response, when fishing.  As everyone here has noted, all the tasty requirements (movement, vibration, color, shape, electrical and sonic "return") to stimulate said responses, are likely presented when using these foils.

Hey, I got me some ideas for my next fly-tying sesh......

More confirmation of why I may be one of the few people on the planet that is NOT too excited about foil tech. I've been paddling that run nearly every day for the last 3 years, seen plenty of fish, including sharks, but never had one be aggressive. Obviously, I'm not like Charlie the Tuna, I'm too slow and have bad taste....maybe they don't like stringy old guys, I don't know. But I could never balance on a foil anyway so I won't be tempting. I hope.

Oh I think the foil tech hype is more medial driving than end user driven.  You are hardly the only person not actually interested on doing the foil thing.

It seems like not everybody is stoked on the whole foiling thing.
