Riviera RP-Downwinder
« on: July 23, 2016, 05:52:44 PM »
Just got a used Riviera RP-14 Downwinder from a friend.
14'x26" Carbon Innegra less than 24 lbs.

This is a big banana like a Glide V1.
Just tried the board for the first time on the chop created by tide and wind on a local sand bar.
So far so good. Managed to get some good glides even without wind which is quite an achievement for my limited skills.
Board fits nicely in the through.
Sunova Allwater 14'x25.5" 303L Viento 520
Sunova Torpedo 14'x27" 286L Salish 500
Naish Nalu 11'4" x 30" 180L Andaman 520
Sunova Steeze 10' x 31" 150L
Blackfish Paddles

First downwind in light conditions. Board makes it easy for goof like me.
Natural and easy to move on the board, can get in surf stance, can get board high on the bump, linked more bumps than ever before.
Love the board and will teach me how to downwind, I am sure.
Waiting for my RailSaverPro to arrive as the board is so light that I do not trust myself to not whack the top of the rail.....

Thanks for the pics luc. Have never seen the rocker on that board from the side. On a related note these SUP manufacturer websites are pretty lame in how little info they give on a board. No side shot on the riviera website. For a downwind board that is all about rocker that seems crazy!

Agreed, it always beats me how one could get an idea of the board with just the skimpy drawings.
Would be nice to have the weight for the different constructions also.
