sup surfing affect on prone surfing
« on: June 30, 2016, 10:56:30 AM »
I've read a few threads here where folks say that sus has improved their prone surfing. That's been my experience in many ways, for example sus has improved my timing getting out and my understanding of how waves break. However, I find the transition from sus to prone to be really painful. Even if I only sus for an hour on my 9x30 sup if I hop off and onto my 9x22 longboard it takes me hours to get my balance back (I'm wobbly). Do others observe this effect? Does it go away with more practice?

I loose my turning ability when back to prone surfing, missing a 3rd arm... but the glide is so pure while long boarding...

No problem with switching back and forth between short/long SUS and/or short/long prone boards.  I'm in water SUS'ing and/or proning and/or prone paddling seven (7) days a week, weather permitted.

Multi-tasking is an art form, so is shredding backside, for that matter.
It takes a quiver to do that.

I switch from 8'4" x 32 to 6'2" x 19.

First day of switch is horrible and I tend to regret doing SUPing as it kinda ruins half of the day.

I haven't been on a SUP over a year now. I'm about to get on it this weekend.  :-[ :-[ :-[
