Deep Tuttle for Gofoil problem
« on: June 27, 2016, 01:33:33 PM »
Has anyone else run into problems finding a deep Tuttle box for their Gofoil? The only place I found is the ShapingShack in Washington state. They have a 4" and a 4.75" box. I ordered the 4.75" after talking to a guy there. Of course I just now noticed my 8'2" starboard is only 4.4" thick. Aw man! Is a 4" still considered "Deep Tuttle?" I guess I could grind it down a bit.
Cheers!

You will need to grind it down...the front of the deep Tuttle base on my foil is less than 2 3/4"...you should have plenty of thickness...
Mine was on back order for a couple of weeks...finally got it and working on getting my new Hammer foil/SUP/windSUP on the water...

You want it deeper than required. You cut hole completely through tail. Fit box from bottom, take sharpe and trace around Tuttle at deck line. Remove box. Cut box 1/8" above sharpe line.

Grind flush with deck after setting box.

Hoping to have my new Hammer foil board ready to fly by Saturday...

Take your time reinforcing your Starboard...saw a botched foil conversion on a carbon SB today...

toejammer2,

You may have to recess the deck. You're limited by the rear screw angle at 3 1/4" deep max on the Tuttle.

Look over this image carefully. The rear screw will collide with the back edge of the Tuttle box before it pops out through the deck if too thick where it's installed.

We absolutely nailed the fitment of the foil on my new carbon Hammer foil board...close tolerance for sure...measure twice...drill once...;-)
Made a cool plug for the Tuttle cavity...
A little paint and it will be ready for flight in the manana...
