I need to work on my lower back more.....anyone had success with foundation Training? I think the basic moves look quite useful to add to other stuff I do.

The Movement Patterns are self inflicted..

Movement Patern pain is purely a physical manifestation of your mind state.

Exercises can help but the just scim over the surface layer - like a pain killer.

A large proportion of my customers come to see me because of back pain and we always look at how they are thinking first.

99 per cent of the population think that's all just pre BS..

They are the ones that want their pain - they enjoy it  ;D

I have found their free video (12 minutes daily workout - the one with the two guys following direction of the main oncho) to be perfect to help with SUP.
I bought the full DVD and never really used it.
In summary, the investment is a one minute download and 12 minutes every few days and it helps.

Cheers,

Luc

Muscle tear - is nearly always because of lack of good flexibility. I have world class athletes in my customer base who are not very flexible so it's quite normal. Most 'athletes' overlook flexibility.

If you 'strengthen' something - you just increase the chance of sprain/strain..

You need this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stretching-Bob-Anderson/dp/0936070463

It's the authoratative guide..

I've had huge success with Foundation Training and highly recommend it. It really focuses on the hamstrings and flexibility.

Ta folks ...will give it a go.

I'm already pretty flexible......still stretch every night more or less.....did martial arts for many years so had the flexibility thing drilled into me like a screwdriver ;D it makes a huge difference.

I'm ready to drink this Kool-aid and just received the DVDs in the mail this afternoon.  Cost less than one session of physio.  I started the 30 day intro series tonight (disc 1).  Hopefully in a month, my body will be ready to start the second disc.  I already appreciate seeing the progressions on the DVD versus the piecemeal clips they have posted online. After 6 minutes, I'm feeling muscles in my back that I didn't know I had (or just don't remember having).  Not sure how much this is for people in great shape looking for more fitness routines (maybe disc 2?), but so far, it's looking like a good direction for me with this pisser of a chronic back injury.

I broke my back and bulged my L4/L5 disc almost four years ago.  Haven't been able to surf or play hockey since.  The only blessing is it got me into stand up (funny thing...out surfing stand up is the only place my back doesn't bug me).

The guy behind Foundation Training, Eric Goodman, is on the Paddlewoo podcast twice.  Definitely recommend listening to the latest one -

http://paddlewoo.com/eric-goodman-interview-diving-deeper-into-foundation-training/

And all of these podcasts.  Dude is seriously geeked-out on paddle surfing... and I mean that as a compliment.

I cycle between low back pain & shoulder pain from paddle surfing.  I am trying to do one "founder" a day for a month, to see if it helps.
